Menu and my thoughts on the Tsukiji Donburi Ichiba
Today I made an unexpected visit to “Tsukiji Donburi Ichiba” and will introduce the menu I ordered and other menu items that I’m sure will amaze you! Are there any seafood lovers here?
If you want to have a delicious seafood bowl in Tsukiji, you have to see this to start, seriously worth it.
I ordered the “Tuna cheek steak bowl” this time
Here we go! Tsukiji Donburi Market is a bar counter-only restaurant. It’s on the busy Monzeki Street. You can find this large sign in front of it! I was curious about other seafood bowls because they were on the sign. Hmm…
After all, this time I decided to have their tuna cheek steak bowl. Why not tuna? you can’t go wrong with tuna! I had no plans to take it easy on the menu as a first-timer.

Here I am. I took a seat at the counter and found the tea free of charge, I decided to try the tea, without much expectation, it’s poured by yourself, so what could go wrong? However, I soon discovered its discrete high quality that has humbly made its value priceless.
After a while…the sound of grilling and the smell of garlic drifted from the back of the room. I just knew it was mine! Oh…I could only imagine.
After about 5 minutes, I got my bowl from the waiter over the counter and now it’s time to eat! It’s supposed to be a tuna steak bowl, and from the picture alone it looks like a regular meat steak, isn’t it?

It is a little difficult to tell from the picture the size of the bowl, but this is the regular Japanese size of a bowl. Maybe about 6 inches wide? Anyway, looks delicious! But I recommend you to see it in person!
Now, let’s try it. The tuna cheek steak is tossed in a garlic and pepper sauce. Woooow! This sauce goes well with rice! Of course, the rice is soft and nice. I think I’d eat a seafood bowl slowly, tasting each ingredient one by one, but this is more like a stamina rice dish that you want to eat like a house!
By the way, lettuce is on top of the rice, and the cheek steak is on top of the lettuce. The crisp lettuce adds a little variety to the texture. It is no wonder since tuna cheek meat is a part of the tuna that has a flavor and texture more similar to beef than to fish. It tastes like red meat with a reasonable amount of fat, but it has a unique texture that breaks apart easily when chewed, just as fish. There were about 7-8 slices of tuna cheek steak in the bowl, and each slice was about the same size as a piece of meat from a regular Yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) restaurant or a little larger. The rice was just the right amount, so the average person would be reasonably full. It is not so greasy, so even those who eat small portions can finish most of it, or perhaps leave a little rice.
Other menu items!

This restaurant is located in Tsukiji, of course, they offer a wide variety of seafood bowls with fresh seafood. There is a large menu at the front of the restaurant. So you can take your time to think about what you want to order. No rush.
There’s a ” ?? Ichiba-Don”. What is it? You can enjoy a variety of ingredients! Luxurious ingredients are placed on top of rice: Special, Sea urchin, Crab, and so on. It depends on which one they put on the bowls. If you want to eat a variety of seafood, you should order one of these “Ichiba-Don” series!
I am also very interested in sea urchins! Have you eaten raw seafood elsewhere? Cheek steak is a bowl of rice that is not often seen in seafood bowl restaurants. I recommend it to all those who want something different! And it is perfect for those who don’t like raw sashimi!
What makes it unique is that there are various types of tuna bowls and you can eat them starting at 1000 yen! Seafood bowl restaurants are often quite expensive, but it is nice that you can have it for a regular lunch price. If your budget does not allow you to eat a luxurious bowl of seafood, but you still want to enjoy the atmosphere of Tsukiji while eating a bowl of something, this is a dish that is easy on your pocket!!
Recommended dishes and tips for choosing what to order at Tsukiji Donburi Ichiba
With so many different menu items, it must be hard to decide which one to choose, right?
So, if you’re not sure what to order, here are some recommendations. I’ll tell you the tips on what to pick!
The “Tuna cheek steak bowl” You can eat a rare part of tuna
To be honest, there are many restaurants in Tsukiji that serve seafood bowls with various kinds of seafood on top. In fact, you can eat it elsewhere. But where else can you find a steak bowl of cheek meat? If you’ve never had cheek meat, you must try it! You may discover something new: it is not meat, but tuna! If you are short on time and want a quick and inexpensive meal, I recommend tuna bowls and marinated rice bowls. They are starting at around 1,000 yen!
