5 popular seafood bowl lunches in Tsukiji!

We will introduce you to some of the most particular seafood bowl lunch restaurants in the Tsukiji Market.

“Uni Tora” If you like sea urchins, you must go there!

”I’ve come all the way to Tsukiji, so I want to splurge!” ”I especially like sea urchins among other seafood.” then, this is the place for you.

There are several sea urchin main dish bowls, and you can compare sea urchins from several different regions. It is rare that you can compare different kinds of sea urchins! I don’t encounter them often even though I work in Tsukiji! There are different amounts and numbers of different types of sea urchins. And there is a variety of seafood other than sea urchins! In addition to the rice bowl menu, there is also sashimi and sushi. You can choose according to how much sea urchin you want to eat and what your budget is. Maybe you like sea urchins but can’t eat that much, you can also enjoy a seafood bowl with tuna or conger eel!

There are two branches: the “Nakadori Branch” and the “Nishidori Branch.” The “Nakadori Branch” is larger, but at lunchtime, there is often a line and a wait. The menu and the atmosphere inside the restaurant are the same, if you don’t want to wait, we recommend checking the “Nishidori Branch”. Don’t worry, there are menus written in English! That’s a big help.

“Tsukiji Yaki Uo Ishikawa”   For a different kind of seared seafood bowl

Tsukiji Aozora Sandaime Bettei Yaki-Uo Ishikawa is a restaurant where you can enjoy “Tsukiji’s Best Seared bowl”.

There are many fresh seafood bowls in Tsukiji. Now, I recommend the seared rice bowl as it is rarely seen. The “Tsukiji’s Best Seared bowl” includes seared super fatty tuna, seared white fleshed fish, sea urchin, salmon roe, and oily tuna rib. Seared fatty tuna has a savory aroma and is chewy like beef tongue, yet melts in the mouth. The seared white fleshed fish has a refreshing flavor that goes very well with grated daikon radish and ponzu (Japanese sauce made primarily of soy sauce and citrus juice). It’s sure to be an addictive experience! If you would like to try a slightly unique seafood bowl, I recommend coming here!

“Seagen” A great place to eat tuna!

This restaurant offers seafood bowls with tuna and sea urchins at reasonable prices. The name of the restaurant is “Seagen”. I ordered “Yamayuki tuna with sea urchin and salmon roe bowl” this time! Yamayuki is one of the most active tuna wholesalers in Japan, with customers from all over the country, including high-class sushi restaurants. The bowl of rice is filled with minced tuna, red freshed fish, medium fatty tuna sea urchin and salmon roe. The ingredients were so luxurious!! So, it was hard to decide which to eat first. Tuna collagen soup comes with the bowl. The soup has a delicious tuna broth. It has a refreshing aftertaste with a little citrus flavor! I continued to enjoy the plentiful tuna. But I made the big mistake of finishing my rice first. I guess many people make the same mistakes like this, but here is some good news! Seagen offers a second serving of rice! The restaurant is clean and stylish, so it’s a great place to go on a date for lunch!
the “Ultimate Tuna Bowl” will be sold out in limited quantities, so come as early as possible.

”Tsukiji Donburi Ichiba”  You can enjoy delicious fish steaks

At Tsukiji Donburi Ichiba, you can eat a rare part of cheek meat. I’d eat a seafood bowl slowly, tasting each ingredient one by one, but this is more like a stamina rice dish that you want to eat like a house! Tuna cheek meat is a part of the tuna that has a flavor and texture more similar to beef than to fish.
It tastes like red meat with a reasonable amount of fat but has a unique texture that breaks apart easily when chewed, just like fish. The tuna cheek steak is tossed in a garlic and pepper sauce. And it goes well with rice! Seafood bowls are also available starting at 1,000 yen, so you can eat reasonably.

”Sushikuni” A bowl overflowing with seafood!

We recommend Sushikuni for those who want to eat a lot of sea urchin and salmon roe! Sushi Kuni’s rice bowls are distinguished by their “Kobore-don” (overflowing bowls), which are filled to overflowing with fresh seafood. In addition to salmon roe bowls, there are many other types of bowls, such as sea urchin/salmon roe / medium fatty tuna bowls and sea urchin bowls. Rice is also served in quite a large portion. Maybe you cannot eat all the rice, then you can ask for a little less. If you are looking for a hearty bowl of seafood, try Sushikuni!

“Tsukiji Kanno” Enjoy a hearty serving of tuna!

Tsukiji Kanno offers a wide variety of seafood bowls mainly on tuna, including the “Three Kinds of Tuna Bowl,” which is available in limited quantities. The tuna is very thick and filling. In addition to seafood bowls, Sushi is also available.

The menu offers a wide range of prices, from reasonable to extravagant, making it a restaurant that can be enjoyed by anyone! We highly recommend this restaurant for those who want to enjoy delicious tuna at a reasonable price while enjoying the lively atmosphere of Tsukiji.

“Tsukiji Maguroya Kurogin” A famous restaurant with a long line!

At Tsukiji Maguroya Kurogin, you can watch the tuna being processed right in front of you and taste the fresh tuna cut on the spot, which is a rare opportunity to enjoy fresh tuna that you cannot find anywhere else.

The signature menu item is the Three-colored bowl! The “Three-colored bowl” is a bowl of rice topped with three different kinds of seafood, but this Three-colored bowl” is a bowl of rice topped with three different colors for each part of the tuna. In addition to the Three-colored bowl, the restaurant also offers a variety of other meals, which can be ordered individually or in any combination. If you want to taste the freshest tuna anywhere, please visit Tsukiji Maguroya Kurogin.

“Hare no Hi Shokudo”Attractive seafood bowls with a wide variety of ingredients!

Hare no Hi Shokudo is recommended for those who want to choose from a variety of seafood bowls and for those who like sea urchins and tuna. The “Jyou Kaisen don” recommended by the restaurant is a particular must-try. The rice bowl is filled with a wide variety of fish, including medium fatty tuna, red meat, shrimp, salmon, white meat, salmon roe, squid, octopus, sea urchin, and scallops! Hare no Hi Shokudo offers not only reasonably priced seafood bowls but also luxurious seafood bowls.. In particular, the “Kiwami no Hon Maguro Don” or “Kiwami no Uni 3 Kinds Don” are must-try items for tuna lovers and sea urchin lovers! There are many tables inside the restaurant, so you may come with a large group, so please visit Hare no Hi Shokudo.

“Tsukijiro”  A hidden seafood bowl restaurant!

Located on the side of a busy street, Tsukijiro is recommended for those who want to enjoy a seafood bowl in a relaxed atmosphere. Tsukijiro was started by three brothers who were born in Tsukiji, and they offer three types of seafood bowls: Taro-don, Jiro-don, and Saburo-don. The recommended Taro-don has 13 kinds of ingredients, each of which is thick and very filling. The tuna, in particular, is very tasty and exquisite.

There is a wide variety of seafood bowls with a choice of toppings, so you can add your favorite item, or if there is something you have never tried before but would like to try, you can add it to the bowl.

“Sashimi Bar Kashigashira” Fresh sashimi served in a bowl!

Sashimi Bar Kashigashira is recommended for those who are tired of going to restaurants on the main street and want to go to a good restaurant that is not listed in guidebooks! If you are looking for a place to eat delicious tuna at a reasonable price, this is the place for you.

The best dish at Sashimi Bar Kashigashira is the “Fresh natural tuna bowl”. The quality and the price are reasonable, and you will be very satisfied. Another recommendation is the “Kashigashira bowl,” a bowl of rice topped with about eight kinds of sashimi, including sea urchin and salmon roe. The restaurant is also open at night as a sashimi bar, where you can enjoy the freshest fish in a retro atmosphere.

How to eat Seafood bowls

Here are some basic ways to eat Seafood bowls. Please refer to the eating methods introduced here and enjoy them in the way that tastes best for you!

Do not mix the whole bowl

In general, Seafood bowls is eaten without mixing the entire bowl. Enjoy the flavor and texture of each item. Use chopsticks or a spoon to pick and choose your ingredients.

Do not put too much soy sauce

Soy sauce is an essential seasoning for Seafood bowls. So Seafood bowls come with soy sauce or are available at the table. You can pour the soy sauce onto a small plate and dip a little on the ingredients or sprinkle it over the bowl. There is no absolute rule on how to use soy sauce! However, too much of it may ruin the flavor of the ingredients. Also, for sea urchin, salmon roe, and other items that already have a rich flavor, try eating them without soy sauce at first. Enjoy the natural taste of the ingredients!

Be careful not to put too much wasabi

Wasabi also goes well with Seafood bowls. Mix just the right amount of wasabi with soy sauce and put it on the sashimi. You can enjoy a fresh and spicy taste. The wasabi is very spicy, so use a little at first.

Enjoy with rice

It is perfect when you eat sashimi and rice together. It brings out the best of both ingredients. Try dividing them into pieces of just the right size and eating them at the same time. If you are not used to using chopsticks, ask the waiter for a spoon.
